Mario Draghi’s recent instalment as the 59th Prime Minister of Italy makes him the 10th person to hold that position in the last 20 years, and the 7th in just the last decade. Why are Italy's leaders unable to retain support within their own governments and among supporters? And, what kind of political reforms could Italy implement to ensure that it has more stable governments, especially during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic?
